B+A Breaking

All together now: HEY !

We’re celebrating this week, as for the first time since this happened the entire B+A team is together under one roof. We’re huddling, last-minute hustling and most important hooray-ing – and keeping this one quick, because its B+A Christmas Party time as soon as I hit send..

So here’s your B+A Bulletin #169, the final of the year, let’s move!

B+A Brilliance

I don’t really know how to say this. But here goes. It is with teary eyes (read that literally) that we’ve got to announce that Jenny, a true B+A OG, is leaving us at the end of this year. Now this isn’t the place for emotional goodbyes – definitely saving those for tonight – but Jenny: your inspirational contribution has been and will continue to be at the very core of B+A, and we love you.

Readers: you can still catch her on [email protected] until the end of this week. Chop chop!

B+A Books etc.

Our book club has hit new heights after the author of this month’s read Think Like an Anthropologist, Matthew Engelke, very generously joined us for our chat all the way from Columbia University, NY. Engelke was hugely insightful and also a very lovely guy. (One) key takeaway? When researching, make sure to enrich your experience with time for observations outside your original intent. It’s these “offstage moments” that often deliver the richest insights.

B+A Big Up

The largest of large ups to our very own Aminah, who this week completes her Outlier programme. Over 6 months she has showed us round her very cool world, taken us all to eat at her favourite restaurant, made a website, two zines and a book and and redesigned education for the 21st century. And that’s just scratching the surface.

Shorthand: she s.m.a.s.h.e.d it.

B+A Babble

St Bartholomew-the-Great is an 11th century church in Smithfield, a seriously old school corner of London. Yesterday we all headed down there for a lunchtime Christmas Carol singalong. Hark the Herald Angels Sing is still a bonafide banger, and St Bart’s itself is pretty damn magical. They’re at it again tomorrow – here’s what you need to know.

B+A Bye…

What more is there to say? Thanks for being part of B+A this year, and we’ll see you in 2019.

Love from all of us at
Team B+A
