Test Pattern, Storytime, The Orange Soda Film Club & Movember (B+A Bulletin #115)

Test Pattern, Storytime, The Orange Soda Film Club & Movember (B+A Bulletin #115)

Happy Wednesday 🙂

Hope this week has been a good’n?
Tamika’s living it large in NYC,

So this week you’ve got me,

Andre, your dearest.

We’ve got some juicy pieces of Internet for you this week.

You’re gonna love it.

Bulletin #115

Let’s get into it.

B+A Brilliance

Tamika recommends that you head over to 180 Strand to see Test Pattern. Test Pattern is an ongoing project by Ryoji Ikeda started in 2006. It converts data (text sounds photos and movies) into barcode patterns. It’s an audiovisual installation series which aims to examine device performance and human perception.

Head to 180 the Strand, take your shoes off and prepare to feel the surrealness (yeah it’s a word) in real time.

B+A Books etc.

If you’ve been an active member of Instagram for the past 4 months, you would have noticed some interesting uses of the Instagram Story feature. I’ve seen everything from Cooking shows to DIY tutorials. I took a crack at it myself and launched my own Instagram-only game show, Storytime. Every weekday, I ask a question, inviting you to respond with a story. The best response wins a prize. It sounds amazing because it is! B+A Big Up

This week we’re bigging up The Orange Soda Film Club. Each month they screen cult classics that many of us will have missed out on when they first hit the big screen. (Nic went to see Malcolm X this weekend). The OSFC say that this is “an opportunity for the younger generation to discover their influence and importance in today’s pop culture”. For as little as a tenner, (yep!), curl up at Whirled Cinema in Loughborough Junction. If that’s not great enough, there’s free popcorn + ice cream too. The next screening will be Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker. Simply unmissable.

B+A Babble

So tomorrow is the last day of Movember, the charity that works to stop men dying too young. Andrew’s brother, Justin, has gone for a daily, increasingly chilly swim in London’s Hampstead men’s ponds (yesterday the water was 7 Celsius) as part of his team Lucky Luke and the Mo-Bros. You can help them hit their ÂŁ30,000 by sponsoring here. Or watch the little movie Movember made when they heard about Justin’s daily dips.

B+A Bye…

In just a few weeks of us mentioning how great New York x Seoul producer/singer Yaeji is, she blesses us with another banger. Enjoy.

See you next week.
Love, Team B+A
