B+A Breaking

Guys it’s true. Tamika really did relocate to B+A Portland. It’s going to take time to adjust, but (said through gritted teeth) London’s loss is PDX’s gain I guess…

That means you’ve got me (Luke) filling her shoes on Bulletin duty. It’s a new chapter, and new is good – as Andrew says, when it comes to healthy culture, renewal > heritage.

Speaking of which, a special shoutout is due for Rosy whose 2-year involvement in Bridget Smith’s ‘Thinking Light’ came to fruition on Monday, when the shimmering 20 metre work was unveiled at the University of Oxford Physics Dept’s shiny new research institute the Beecroft Building. See above, or even better, check it in the flesh.

Enough intro, more Bulletin #156…

B+A Brilliance

The Middlesex Counties League 1, 12th tier of English football, doesn’t  often get much international attention. But East London’s Clapton FC have grabbed themselves some props-worthy limelight through their 18/19 away kit. The strip celebrates the 80th anniversary of the end of the Spanish Civil War and the club’s stance against fascism through the anti-Franco slogan ‘No Parasan’ (‘They Shall Not Pass’) and three-pointed star of the International Brigades.

It didn’t take long for Spanish football fans to pick up on the pro-democratic message – the strip is now totally sold out after buyers from across Spain pledged their support for the amateur football team.

B+A Books etc.

Our mates at NTS Radio tipped us off to this one – DJ and label boss Endy Chen, who’s keeping Shanghai dance music analogue as one of the major movers in the Chinese crate-digging scene. Check his live set this Friday at China Social Club.

B+A Big Up

There’s a lot to big up in-house this week – our Gal’s also been a busy guy of late, working on high spec side hustle iD Circuit. It’s a brand new digital tool for designers that sharpens the communication of designs, fast-forwarding the journey from idea to build. Watch the vid.

B+A Babble

Last week Adesuwa and André attended Afrofrequency, the first of a series of events curated by Jenn Nkiru, with special guest Janelle Monáe. The night was filled with great vibes, inspirational quotes and a screening of Monáe’s Emotional Picture, Dirty Computer which you can watch here. All of this went down at the opening week of EartH (who also happen to be midway through a big crowdfunder).

B+A Bye…

Enough from me. Good evening Europe, Good morning West Coast, and Happy New Year Ethopia

Love, team B+A x
